Following a historic china visit and summit in Beijing, US President Donald Trump boarded Air Force One and departed China for Washington.
On his last day, Trump met Xi Jinping for tea and a business lunch at the Communist Party’s exclusive Zhongnanhai complex, a facility where its leaders reside and work.
Trump said the china visit allowed the two leaders “settled a lot of different problems that other people wouldn’t have been able to solve”. Adding that they discussed trade, Iran, and “other things”.
Earlier, Trump talked about the potential sale of Boeing aircraft and soybeans to China in a meandering, hour-long sit-down interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity. What agreements were made is still up in the air.

China’s foreign ministry said Trump and Xi had reached a “series of new consensuses” during their talks in Beijing and called for a swift resolution to the Iran war.
However, officials appear to have made no progress regarding the fate of Jimmy Lai, a Hong Kong pro-democracy activist whom a court has sentenced to 20 years in prison for collusion and sedition.
BACKSTORY…
Trump’s trip came after months of tense but carefully managed U.S.–China diplomacy during his second presidency.
The escalating Iran conflict originally postponed the visit from earlier in the year, as it shifted Washington’s attention to the Middle East and delayed high-level engagement with Beijing.
It also marked Trump’s second state visit to China—his first was back in 2017—and the first time a sitting U.S. president had traveled to China in nearly nine years.
In a video spotted on social media, Chinese school children and officials were spotted cheering for President Trump while receiving him.
