In response to claims of a Christian genocide in Nigeria, US President Donald Trump has renamed the nation as a “country of particular concern.”
Trump announced his decision in a Truth Social post on Friday.

“Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians are being killed,” Trump said.
The US president further attributed the genocide to radical Islamists for the “mass slaughter”.
“I am hereby making Nigeria a ‘COUNTRY OF PARTICULAR CONCERN’,” he declared.

Trump added that when Christians are slaughtered like is happening in Nigeria “(3,100 versus 4,476 Worldwide)”, something must be done.
“The United States cannot stand by while such atrocities are happening in Nigeria, and numerous other Countries,” he added.

Trump promised to request that the House Appropriations Committee and Congressmen Riley Moore and Tom Cole look into this issue immediately.
This comes after notable political figures in Nigeria including the Nigerian minister of foreign affairs President Tinubu and refuted claims that there is genocide targeted at Christians in the country.
