FG closes terrorism trial against Nnamdi Kanu
The Federal Government has closed its case on Thursday in the continuing trial of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), who was charged with treason and terrorism.
Chief Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN, the FG’s attorney, made this announcement following the 5th prosecution witness (PW-5), who was designated as EEE for security reasons, was brought in evidence and cross-examined by Kanu’s attorney, Onyechi Ikpeazu, before Federal High Court Judge James Omotosho in Abuja.
Awomolo informed the court that the prosecution was satisfied that the government had adequately fulfilled the necessity to close its case based on the large amount of evidence presented, including the broadcast of the IPOB leader’s activities, after calling five witnesses during the trial.

“I therefore close the case,” the senior lawyer said.
Chief Kanu Agabi, the principal defence attorney, told the court following the announcement that they will choose to make a no-case petition in due time.
