The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Lagos (UNILAG) chapter, has announced plans to embark on an indefinite strike.

The union said the decision was prompted by what it described as “amputated” salaries paid to its members by the university management for the months of January and February 2026.
This was disclosed in a communiqué issued at the end of an emergency meeting held on Tuesday. The statement was jointly signed by the union’s chairperson, Idou Kehinde, and its secretary, Adesina Arikawe.

According to the communiqué, the strike will begin on Wednesday and will continue indefinitely until the university management meets the union’s demands.
More details are expected to follow.
