The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has tendered a public apology for the delays in the conduct of the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), specifically for the delays in English Language Paper 2, which resulted to the paper being taken at night in Taraba on Wednesday, May 28 .

The council revealed this in a statement signed by Moyosola Adesina, WAEC’s Ag. Head of Public Affairs, recognising the difficulties encountered in administering the WASSCE for school candidates in 2025, including the postponement of the English Language Paper 2 deadline.

The council encountered many difficulties in upholding the security and integrity of the test, according to WAEC, mainly because its principal goal was to stop any paper from leaking.

While it successfully achieved its objective, the exercise inadvertently impacted the timeliness and seamless conduct of the examination.
