‘Why I can never marry a Nigerian man’- DJ Cuppy Stirs social debate

Popular billionaire Disk Jockey, DJ Cuppy has opened up about marriage, relationships, and family expectations, explaining why she feels she may never marry a Nigerian man.

The 33-year-old, who turns 34 in November, also spoke candidly about her dating experiences, especially while living in the United Kingdom.

She explained that she has met several men who claim Nigerian heritage but, in her opinion, do not appear deeply connected to their roots.

Cuppy, otherwise known as Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola, also disclosed details about the pressure she frequently experiences in relationships, pointing out that discussions typically turn serious far sooner than she anticipates. She confessed that she found it overwhelming that several of her ex-partners were keen to meet her father soon after they began dating.

She said, “I can never marry a Nigerian; it’s impossible. The last one I dated was asking me when he could meet my dad. I don’t even think they like me.”

DJ Cuppy also further revealed that her billionaire father does not care who she ends up with. In her words, “My dad doesn’t even care who I marry; he just wants me to get married. That’s why I’m so happy for Temi and Mr Eazi.”

Her comments have since sparked reactions online, with many social media users sharing differing opinions on her stance regarding marriage and relationships.

BACKSTORY…

Recall that the billionaire heiress recently described marriage as one of the most profound and powerful bonds in human existence.

Posting on her official X handle on Thursday, Cuppy expressed that she sees marriage not merely as a partnership, but as a sacred covenant made before God.

“Call me old school, but I see marriage as the most powerful partnership in life. Maybe even the most important contract you will ever sign with God Himself as the witness.”

The entertainer went on to say that her younger sister, Temi Otedola’s marriage to Afrobeats star Mr Eazi, has further deepened her conviction about the institution.
