Troops of the Nigerian military, Operation FANSAN YANMA have successfully rescued Mrs Abubakar, wife of retired Maj.-Gen. Rabe Abubakar, following a tough encounter with armed bandits in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Popular security reporter, Zagazola Makama disclosed this in an exclusive report posted on his official X handle on Monday night.
He said the operation, carried out under Operation CLEAN SWEEP III, followed intelligence-led offensives launched in Matazu and nearby areas after the wife of a retired senior officer was abducted.

He said, “The bandits shot her and fled when we made contact at Tunga village. We have rescued Mrs. Abubakar. She is bleeding. We have given her first aid and are moving her for urgent medical attention.”

Former Director of Defence Information, Retired Major General Rabe Abubakar earlier died in the hands of his abductors after weeks in captivity.
Recall that bandits earlier kidnapped the ex-defence spokesperson and his wife in Katsina.
In more recent development, General Rabe Abubakar(Rtd) was laid to rest in Katsina on Saturday after funeral prayers attended by family members, military officers, government officials and residents.
Following this, President Bola Tinubu has reacted to the the death of retired Major-General Rabe Abubakar.
Tinubu, in a State House statement on Saturday, said he received the news of the former military officer’s death with “shock and sadness”.
