Sen Ireti Kingibe Drops Massive Allegations on Wike, Says he has been taking loans without senate approval

Senator Ireti Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), accused FCT Minister Nyesom Wike of securing loans for the capital without obtaining required approval from the National Assembly.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Political Paradigm, the senator stated that she had repeatedly raised concerns with Senate leadership regarding the minister’s borrowing practices.

Kingibe explained that standard legislative procedure requires FCT budget proposals and financing requests to be submitted to the Senate through the relevant committee for thorough review before receiving full chamber approval.

She asserted, however, that Wike bypassed the legislature entirely and failed to seek parliamentary authorization for the loans acquired for capital development projects.

“I am definitely saying he has been taking loans without the approval of the national assembly. I don’t know about the house, but certainly not the senate,” she said.

Backstory…

Her latest remarks comes after the Senator attributed the escalating flood incidents in Abuja to illegal construction on green areas, natural flood plains, and designated drainage routes.

Speaking in a recent interview with ARISE NEWS, the senator warned that blocking natural water channels and streams significantly reduces the city’s drainage capacity during heavy rainfall.

Kingibe criticized ongoing developments that deviate from the original Abuja master plan, noting that she has engaged key FCT authorities to address these structural violations and mitigate future flooding across the territory.
