A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has hijacked control of the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja after the Nigeria Police Force reopened it.
The National Working Committee, led by Abdulrahman Mohammed, confirmed the development in a statement on Saturday.
Through its National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, the committee warned that it will no longer tolerate any actions that could disrupt operations, obstruct activities, or breach the peace at the secretariat.
Recall that the PDP has been embroiled in a leadership crisis that has split the party into two factions.
Additionally, the crisis also led to the closure of its national secretariat by police authorities.
Background
On November 18, authorities sealed off the secretariat after both factions of the NWC—one led by Tanimu Turaki (SAN) and the Wike faction clashed.
