Bolaji Abdullahi, National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has said the party will defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general election, regardless of whether the polls are free and fair.
Abdullahi made the claim in an interview with Symfoni TV while responding to questions about the ADC’s chances of defeating the ruling APC in the 2027 election.
Although he expressed concerns about possible electoral manipulation, Abdullahi said the party remained confident of winning a free and fair election.
“In a free and fair election, we have no doubt in our minds that we will win this election. The challenge is, will there be a free and fair election?
“We are ready for that. We are ready for anything. We are dealing with these APC people; you have to be ready for anything because we know that they will want to steal the election.
“We will police our votes. We know the things that we will do. We won’t tell you, but we are ready for them because we know that if you dine with the devil, you have to have a long spoon,” he said.

The ADC’s warning comes as the opposition party positions itself as the main platform for challenging President Bola Tinubu and the APC in the 2027 presidential election.
The party has brought together several prominent opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Senate President David Mark and other politicians who previously operated in different parties.
The ADC has consequently shifted from simply presenting itself as another opposition party to portraying the 2027 election as a direct contest with the APC.
In recent weeks, the ADC presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar has been at logger head with the president Tinubu led administration over the subsidy subject.
Earlier on Sunday, September 13, Atiku Abubakar accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of failing to invest funds saved from the removal of fuel subsidies in the education sector. This comes following his recent pledge to restore subsidy if elected in the 2027 election.
