The Obidient Movement Worldwide has revealed that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, is currently holding extensive, high-level consultations with key stakeholders, political allies, and aligned groups ahead of the 2027 elections.

This was disclosed on Saturday by the Movement’s National Coordinator, Yunusa Tanko, in an official statement.
According to him, the movement is aware of growing concerns and widespread speculation surrounding recent political developments and Obi’s engagements with both existing and potential partners.
The clarification follows claims by Habibu Mohammed, spokesperson of the Kwankwasiyya movement, who alleged on Friday that Obi and former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso were set to defect from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) next week after receiving unanimous backing from stakeholders.
It was also noted that since the all-opposition leaders’ summit held in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, in April, Obi has not attended subsequent ADC meetings.
However, Tanko emphasized that Obi’s ongoing consultations are aimed at identifying the most strategic and effective path forward in the interest of Nigerians and the shared vision of building a better nation.

“As a movement grounded in integrity, accountability, and active citizen participation, we remain committed to ensuring that every decision aligns with our core values and long-term vision for the country,” the statement read.
He added that the consultations are being conducted carefully and deliberately, with the ultimate goal of securing a future that benefits all Nigerians.
