The Rivers State chapter of the African Democratic Congress has begun its governorship primary election across the state.
The party will conduct the exercise across the 319 wards in Rivers State on Friday using the Option A4 voting system.
Meanwhile, members of the party’s National Election Committee are also on the ground to supervise the process.
Earlier in the day, two of the seven governorship aspirants stepped down in support of Gabriel Pidomson, a former member of the House of Assembly and former Secretary to the Rivers State Government.
Among those who withdrew from the race is Henry Ugboma.
The remaining candidates in the governorship contest include Sokonte Davies, Farah Dagogo, Leloonu Nwibubasa, and Allen Hart.

This comes following the shocking withdrawal of Governor Fubara and Tonye Cle from the state APC governorship primaries.
Recall that, Fubara, has formally withdrawn from the All Progressives Congress(APC), governorship primary election in the state.
The governor announced this shocking development in a statement personally signed on Wednesday, adding that he would support whoever emerges as the party’s candidate.
Similarly, George-Kelly Alabo also stepped aside from the gubernatorial contest in APC.
Meanwhile, Tonye Cole, a former APC governorship candidate in Rivers, has also formally withdrawn from the party’s primary election in the state ahead of Thursday’s exercise.
