Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has announced plans to personally lead President Bola Tinubu’s campaign in the FCT and Rivers State.
Wike disclosed this on Friday in Chikuku, Abuja, after inspecting the ongoing Phase II of the Kuje-Gwagwalada road dualisation project.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister announced plans to inaugurate and lead campaign teams for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in both the FCT and Rivers State, stating that supporting political structures have already been mobilized.
He asserted that the administration’s performance—particularly visible infrastructure delivery—will drive the campaign and generate direct electoral support from the public.
“The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), I believe, is putting itself together for an aggressive campaign.
“For us who are supporting Mr President from different political platforms, we have put our machinery ready to fully kick start.
“Very soon, I will inaugurate the campaign team for Tinubu in the FCT and Rivers State, which I will lead. All elements of the APC are ready, Mr President is ready, we are ready and you can see the enthusiasm,” Wike said.
The Minister emphasized that the administration’s electoral appeal in the territory will center on visible urban transformation, driven by extensive road construction and public infrastructure development.
He asserted that if residents are satisfied with these tangible developments, they will naturally cast their ballots for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
“People are happy, and I don’t know who will contest against Mr President as far as this election is concerned.
“This is governance, and this is what people expect. It will translate directly into actual votes,” he said.

Nyesom Wike’s decision to personally lead President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 campaign in the FCT and Rivers State is the latest step in a political alignment that has continued to attract attention because Wike remains a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
His latest announcement follows an earlier declaration that he intended to “deliver” Rivers and the FCT to Tinubu. During a media chat in Port Harcourt on September 2, Wike described himself as the “General Commander of the Political Infantry” and said he remained in control of political structures in the two territories.
