Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has felicitated former governors Willie Obiano and Chris Ngige as they celebrate their birthdays.
Both former governors were born on August 8 and are marking their 71st and 74th birthdays respectively on Saturday.
Soludo celebrated his predecessors for their contributions to the development and growth of Anambra State, highlighting their achievements during their respective periods in office.
In his message to Obiano, the governor described him as a “worthy son of Anambra” whose eight-year administration contributed to the state’s development.
Soludo acknowledged Obiano’s initiatives and efforts towards improving infrastructure and advancing the state during his tenure as governor.
He also praised Obiano’s investments in infrastructure and other development projects, describing them as evidence of his commitment to the progress of Anambra.
“Therefore, I wish former Governor Willie Obiano a happy birthday today, with prayers for his sustained good health, joy, and many more years of a fulfilled, good life,” Soludo said.
The governor also congratulated Ngige, who previously represented Anambra Central Senatorial District in the Senate and later served as Minister of Labour and Employment under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Soludo acknowledged Ngige’s role in Anambra’s political history, particularly during what he described as a formative and challenging period for the state.
He commended the former governor for promoting discipline in public administration and recognised his contributions to infrastructural development.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, Soludo also highlighted Ngige’s subsequent public service at the national level, including his time in the Senate and as Minister of Labour and Employment.
The governor wished Ngige a memorable birthday celebration, good health, continued wisdom and God’s blessings in the years ahead.

Willie Obiano served as Governor of Anambra State from 2014 to 2022, succeeding Peter Obi, while Chris Ngige governed the state from 2003 to 2006 before later serving as a senator and Minister of Labour and Employment.
Both former governors have remained prominent figures in Anambra’s political history, with their administrations focusing on governance, infrastructure and other areas of state development.
Soludo, who succeeded Obiano as governor in 2022, has on several occasions acknowledged the contributions of past administrations to the development of Anambra State. His birthday messages to Obiano and Ngige highlight their respective roles in the state’s political and developmental journey.
