Lt. General Olufemi Oluyede, age 56, officially assumes office as the 24th Chief of Army Staff on Monday. He was appointed by President Bola Tinubu on 30th October as acting Chief of Army Staff following the death of Lt General Taoreed Lagbaja.
Before he was appointed Chief of Army Staff, Oluyede previously served as the 56th Commander of the elite Infantry Corps of the Nigerian Army, Jaji, Kaduna.
However, Oluyede and the late Lagbaja were coursemates and members of the 39th Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy.
He was given the insignia of office on November 1st by the Chief of Defense in accordance with the Armed Forces Act.
