Former Labour Party Presidential campaign spokesperson, Kenneth Okonkwo has expressed his willingness to support either a Southerner or a Northerner provided they agree to step down after serving a four-year term.

Kenneth Okonkwo made this statement during the Sunday edition of Inside Sources with Laolu Akande, a socio-political program aired on Channels Television, amid discussions on a coalition for the 2027 elections.

The Nollywood actor who is also a politician emphasized that his stance is based  on principles of quality and fairness between the northern and southern regions of Nigeria, aligning with the unwritten rule of rational presidency.

“Everybody should come together. It is something that can be discussed. Who is going to do four years will influence who I am going to support because I still believe in equity and justice,” he said.

Kenneth Okonkwo, who resigned from Labour Party in February expressed openness to joining a coalition aimed at unseating president Bola Tinubu of All Progressive Congress (APC) in the next election.

According to discussions about forming a coalition have been gaining traction, particularly after the recent defection of former Kaduna governor, Nasir El-Eufai from the APC to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

The lawyer criticized the APC administration as incompetent and emphasized the need for the opposition to establish a strong alliance to challenge the incumbent government in the upcoming election.

“My game plan is simple. If the opposition is serious about taking power from this incompetent government, they must unite and act as one because that was exactly what the APC did in 2013, which helped them win in 2015.
