Breaking News Nyeson Wike revokes PDP national secretariat land in Abuja
Nyesom Wike, the minister in charge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has canceled the allocation of land on which the Peoples Democratic Party’s national secretariat is built in Abuja.
On Tuesday, Wike issued the revocation notice by a letter dated March 13, 2025, titled “Notice of right of occupancy with file no: MISC 81346 in respect of plot no: 243 within central area district, Abuja.”
It was also signed by the Director, Land Administration (FTC), Chijioke Nwankwoe.
He stated that the opposition party had for the last twenty years (from January 1, 2006, to January 1, 2025) failed to pay the annual ground rents due on the property, despite numerous publications in several national dailies and electronic media requesting the party to pay all outstanding bills and ground rent on her property.
The letter stated that the PDP national secretariat was being referred to and banned by the minister from Federal Capital Territory because it had been found in breach of the terms of occupancy of failure to pay ground rent for twenty years from January 1st, 2006, to January 1st, 2025.
“Such debasement was based on the continued violation of the terms and conditions of grant of Right of Occupancy through the failure to pay yearly ground rent on the property for twenty (20) years, that is, from January 1, 2006, to January 1, 2025.
This was despite the numerous publications by the FCT Administration from 2023 till date in several national dailies and electronic media requesting allottees of plots in the Federal Capital Territory to pay every single outstanding bill and ground rent on their property.
“Please be advised that such breaches are a contravention of Section 28, Subsection 5 (a) and (b) of the Land Use Act by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Secretariat (MISC 81346).”
The minister also signed that, moving forward, the FCTA administration would take full possession of the secretariat until every bill is settled.
