INEC denies receiving ADA party registration application by coalition leaders
The Independent Electoral Commission(INEC) has stated that it did not receive any application to register any political party as claimed by coalition leaders, adding that no group has applied for registration as a political party.

INEC maintained that organisations wishing to register as political parties must adhere to established protocols and fulfil the administrative and legal prerequisites for registration.

The commission acknowledged that there are more than 100 associations waiting, but none of them have formally applied to it as of yet.

According to Sam Olumekun, National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, INEC has only received letters of intent thus far, not official applications, The Nation reported.

Recall that information circulating social media was that coalition leaders had sent in an application to INEC concerning registration of its newly named political party ADA which is expected to unseat the ruling APC administration in 2027.

Olumekun stated that submitting a letter of intent is the initial step.

According to him, organisations that want to register as political parties must first fulfil the requirements before filing a formal application.
