A team of Nigeria Police officers has reportedly broken the hand of Omoyele Sowore, the African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate in the 2023 general election.

The incident is said to have occurred on Thursday morning at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
According to a post shared on Sowore’s official Instagram page, the police team, led by a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) from the Inspector General of Police’s Monitoring Unit, allegedly forced their way into his detention cell and later moved him to an undisclosed location.
“At about 6AM, a police team, headed by a CSP from the IGP Monitoring Unit, forcibly entered Omoyele Sowore’s detention cell at the FID in Abuja, broke his right hand, and transported him to an undisclosed location.”
It was reported that he was detained on Wednesday after he honored an invite from the IGP Monitoring Unit.
