President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering the expansion of Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MSMEs) stating saying that there is no reason why Nigerians should live in poverty.

Tinubu made the announcement on Wednesday at the 8th Expanded National MSME Clinic in Calabar.

Vice President Kashim Shettima spoke on his behalf, and he claimed that the nation’s natural and human resources were limitless.

According to the president, Cross River’s lush terrain allowed the state to grow nearly every crop.

“The Federal Government intends to plant 100 million oil palm trees, more than any other state. Cross River has an advantage,” he said.

Tinubu further said that upon assumption of office, his government guaranteed access to capital and pledged to support ventures that would redefine the future of work, skills, and industry.

Tinubu commended the Cross River Government for establishing a state-of-the-art communication and technology hub for MSMEs, saying, “This aligns the state with trends in digital technology.”

“The establishment of a cutting-edge communication and technology hub for MSMEs by the Cross River Government is commendable as it aligns the state with digital technology trends,” he said.

“The hub will give MSMEs affordable access to high-speed internet, modern equipment, and a collaborative space to learn and innovate, remembering that the digital world is a window to diverse markets.

“The digital world has space for the market woman in Ikom, the furniture maker in Calabar, and the fashion designer in Ogoja, Ugep, or Odukpani.

“Our commitment is not just to give loans or grants, but to build an ecosystem that provides infrastructure and enhances the creativity of entrepreneurs,” he said.

Gov. Bassey Otu characterised the 8th MSME Clinic as a special-purpose project between the Federal Government and Cross River during his speech.

The goal, according to Otu, was to boost the state’s economy and encourage inhabitants to be more enterprising.

The state government, he added, had taught at least 3,500 entrepreneurs in various aspects of entrepreneurship through the Micro Finance and Enterprise Development Service.

MSMEs offer limitless benefits, the governor said, adding that they may improve people’s quality of life if they are explored together.

Otu affirmed the state government’s commitment to assisting the president in implementing his Renewed Hope Agenda and praised him for his vision.

The head of the Bank of Industry (BOI) office in Cross River, Mr. Pius Neji, stated that the bank is an essential friend and collaborator in the advancement of entrepreneurs.

According to Neji, the BOI has already distributed over N260 million to MSMEs in the state and has been providing funding to support companies in rural regions.
