Riding high after last weekend’s crucial victory over Tottenham, Arsenal continued their Premier League title chase with a convincing 3-0 win against Bournemouth. This win puts pressure on current league leaders Manchester City, who face a tough match against Wolves later today.
Manager Mikel Arteta opted for an unchanged lineup following their thrilling 3-2 win against their North London rivals. Meanwhile, Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola made two changes to his starting XI, bringing in Zabarnyi and Christie.
They dominated the game from the opening whistle, relentlessly pressuring the Bournemouth defense. They created numerous chances, including the best one of the first half, but could not find the breakthrough. The deadlock finally broke in the 44th minute when Kai Havertz was brought down by the Bournemouth goalkeeper in the penalty area. Bukayo Saka stepped up coolly and converted the penalty, sending Arsenal into halftime with a deserved lead.
The second half saw Bournemouth come out with renewed energy, putting pressure on the Arsenal defense and creating some half-chances. However, it was Arsenal who struck the crucial second goal to regain control of the game. Saka found Rice with a clever pass and played a delightful ball to Leandro Trossard on the left. Trossard kept his composure and slotted the ball past the goalkeeper, doubling Arsenal’s lead.
Bournemouth thought they had pulled a goal back with a late effort, but the strike was ruled out for a foul on Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya. Unfazed, Arsenal continued their dominance and added a third goal through a fantastic move. Gabriel Jesus played a brilliant pass to Declan Rice, who unleashed a powerful shot past the goalkeeper to seal the victory.
Arsenal comfortably controlled the remainder of the game and secured all three points. This win keeps them firmly in the title race and puts pressure on Manchester City before their upcoming match.
