JUST IN: Billionaire businessman Oskar Ibru dies at 67

Olorogun Oskar Ibru, a business magnate and the head of the Ibru Organisation, passed away at the age of 67.

Oskar Ibru passed suddenly following a brief illness, according to a statement from his family that Arise News reported on Wednesday.

The circumstances surrounding his death were not further revealed.

He played a key role in maintaining and growing the conglomerate founded by his late father, Olorogun Michael Ibru, whose commercial empire encompassed commerce, real estate, shipping, and oil and gas.

His death occurs fewer than ten years his father,  the family patriarch, passed away in 2016.

It is anticipated that funeral plans will be revealed shortly.

Following his sad demise, Dele Momodu, the editor of Ovation International and a media entrepreneur, responded to the news on Wednesday by calling him “a socialite per excellence and an extremely friendly gentleman.”

In a post on his official x page, Momodu wrote, “News has just reached me in the skies that one of Nigeria’s most recognisable businessmen, OLORUNGUN OSKAR IBRU, has passed on… He was an extremely friendly gentleman, and a socialite per excellence, who was loved so passionately by families and friends… He was the son of the business Titan, OLOROGUN MICHAEL IBRU… Rest in peace, dear Brother…”
