A fresh round of dialogue between security stakeholders and repentant bandits has gained strength across Katsina State, with reassurances of an end to bandit attacks in five local government areas of the State.

The goal of the conversation was to strengthen peace initiatives and promote understanding between the communities and bandits who have consented to surrender their weapons.

Local sources claim that the negotiations have already produced a major breakthrough, with bandit leaders allegedly promising to halt all attacks and suspend hostilities within the participating local government regions starting this Sunday, October 12.

The state-wide initiative to put an end to years of insecurity that have impacted farming, trade, and rural lives in the southern region of Katsina State included the reinvigorated peace engagement.

Elders from the community, traditional leaders, and security personnel reportedly took part in the most recent discussion, imploring everyone to keep their promises for the sake of everyone.
