Ten people have been abducted in Kogi State while returning home after registering for their voter cards. The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on Friday along the Dekina–Ajiyolo–Anyigba Road.
According to residents, the victims, mostly from Abocho and surrounding communities, had chartered a bus to Dekina, the local government headquarters, for the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise. However, on their way back, gunmen ambushed their vehicle and kidnapped them.
Troops from the 12 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Lokoja, Kogi State working with local vigilantes, later chased the kidnappers. Their efforts made the gunmen release some of the victims, but they still escaped with about ten others.

An eyewitness said, “The kidnappers tricked us. They released about 31 people, and we thought everyone was free. Before we realised, they had gone far with about ten others, including the driver.”
Security forces assured they are still searching for the missing victims.
