The station, Currency 93.1 FM, will focus on music, entertainment, community programs, and youth development across Oyo State and beyond.
The launch has received widespread acclaim from Ibadan residents and fans nationwide, who view it as a bold initiative that could significantly enhance the state’s media landscape.
With this move, Taye Currency joins a growing list of entertainers venturing into media ownership.
Notably, gospel musician Yinka Ayefele owns the popular Fresh FM network, which has stations in cities like Ibadan and Abeokuta.

Taye Currency, also called “Apesin”, was born on December 17, 2024. In 2019, he was appointed by Governor Seyi Makinde as Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism.
He is also known as “Baba Honorable”, after his son, Yusuf Oladeni Adebisi, was elected into the Oyo State House of Assembly in 2019 to represent Ibadan South-West Constituency 1, and re-elected in 2023 under the PDP platform.
