JUST IN: Plateau State rocked as gunmen brutally murder 12 at mining site

Plateau state been put into a state of grief over a tragic incident that occurred in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, where 12 people were brutally killed on Tuesday night by suspected Fulani militia.

According to information received, the event took place at a mining site in the council area’s Ratoso fan village.

Residents revealed that the gunmen opened fire on the victims after storming the site while they were mining.

Dagallang Davott, the chairman of the Berom Educational and Cultural Organisation and the secretary of the Mining Committee in Barkin Ladi, confirmed the occurrence to The PUNCH in Jos on Wednesday. He stated that numerous other people are still missing as a result of the gunmen’s onslaught.

Dallang said, “The number of those missing is yet to be ascertained because the incident happened in the night. “

The BECO chairman, who condemned the incident, explained, “There was an attack at Fan yesterday. It happened in the night, but I cannot give you the exact time.

“The gunmen stormed the mining site and opened fire on the miners. So, many of them fled for their lives during the incident. But 12 persons so far have been confirmed killed.”

According to sources, the attack is the latest in a series of incidents in Plateau State, highlighting the need for increased security measures to protect citizens.
