Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, has acknowledged that he just got married. He has characterised this as a purely private decision that has no bearing on his political views or official responsibilities.
He insisted that his obligations to the federation are still complete and unaltered.
According to sources familiar with the situation, the marriage was discreetly formalised a while back and purposefully kept out of the public eye, according to The Nation.

They claim that the strategy is consistent with Akume’s long-standing inclination for prudence in personal matters, which has followed him throughout his years of public service.
The SGF has continuously drawn a clear distinction between his personal and professional responsibilities, according to a top assistant in an article published by the Nation. From his previous political positions to his current employment at the core of government coordination, the aide claimed that boundaries had dictated his behaviour.

Close friends and associates of Akume also added that the marriage does not signal any shift in values or priorities.

Akume’s professional record, which they characterised as stable and institution-focused, was another point made by political observers. From his time as governor to his position in the federal executive, he has been recognised for a style that prioritises consistency above spectacle.
