The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has threatened to reveal the arrangement he made with Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu if the governor does not inform the state’s citizens.

During a stakeholder meeting in Rivers State’s Eleme Local Government Area on Wednesday, Wike gave the warning.

He pointed out that, in contrast to what had happened in Rivers State, the political risks he had taken at the national level had paid off.

President Tinubu fulfilled his promises, according to the FCT Minister, who said that the benefits Rivers State had experienced under the current administration were evidenced by his selection as Wike and the appointment of several Rivers indigenous people to important federal positions.

“If he does not tell the Rivers people the agreement we had before Mr. President, I will tell them myself,” Wike stated.

Additionally, the former governor of Rivers cautioned outside politicians against interfering in the state’s political issues. He underlined that participation should only come from people who are familiar with Rivers’ political dynamics.

“If you do not understand the politics of Rivers State, sit at home. Nobody will intimidate us. Before, when the federal government was against us, we won. Now that the federal government is friendly with us, we will win more,” he declared.

The FCT minister added that the choice to back President Tinubu had paid off and that he was visiting Eleme to express gratitude to the locals for their continued support over the years.

As the new political season gets off, he urged the people of Eleme to keep behind President Tinubu and their political leaders.

Speaking at the ceremony as well, former Senator Olaka Nwogu of the Rivers East Senatorial District praised FCT minister for his visit and reassured him of the Eleme people’s unwavering support. Nwogu commended Wike for supporting local development initiatives and assigning Eleme sons to important roles.

“We voted for Governor Sim Fubara because Wike directed us to do so. Since Wike left office, no major project has been attracted to Eleme. Whatever he says, we stand by him,” Nwogu said, adding that Wike had been betrayed.

A member of the Rivers State House of Assembly representing Eleme Constituency, Hon. Aforji Igwe, described Wike as a detribalized leader who insisted on equity ahead of the 2023 governorship election.

Ejor Ejor, former Eleme Chairman Hon. Isaac Kamalu, Hon. Fred Igwe, and Marcus Ejii were among the other figures that swore allegiance to Wike and promised to follow his political path.

Leaders from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) attended the gathering, which saw the comeback of some former political figures.

The presentation of a plaque to the FCT Minister in appreciation of his contributions to the growth of Eleme Local Government Area was the event’s high point.
