Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, has asked his followers to maintain composure during his confrontation with Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
Speaking on Thursday, January 1, at the government house in Port Harcourt’s New Year’s banquet, he said that some people are trying to blackmail him and his government and that they are just barking like dogs because they don’t understand governance.
“Don’t be disturbed by what is happening. Caesar in one of his quotes said, the only reason the dog barks is when it doesn’t understand. If you have a dog in your house and it knows you, does it need to bark? So when the dog starts backing maybe it is seeing something it doesn’t understand.
We are not barking because we understand. We know where we are going and we have set all the things that are needed to make the journey smooth”.
In the state, Wike and his supporters have persisted in holding demonstrations where they have criticised Fubara and promised to campaign against his reelection if he does not pass through Wike.
