Tinubu Kicks Off Campaign in Kaduna Amid Massive Turnout

Party supporters and government officials packed Kaduna—the former capital of Northern Nigeria—on Friday as they gathered for the launch of the 2027 APC presidential campaign scheduled for Saturday.

Crowds overflowed from the campaign venue onto Independence Way and neighboring boulevards, completely filling the township stadium.

Party members assembled at the rally site as early as 6 a.m. on Saturday, wearing T-shirts featuring party colors and insignia alongside custom clothing displaying President Bola Tinubu’s portrait or his iconic broken-shackles symbol.

APC-led state governors, Federal Government ministers, National Assembly members, APC National Working Committee members, and federal and state appointees attended the event at the stadium.

During the flag-off, President Bola Tinubu urged Nigerians to support his reelection bid, pledging to continue advancing economic recovery, prosperity, and a brighter future for the country’s children.

Expressing gratitude to the people of Kaduna for their backing in the 2023 presidential election, Tinubu stated that he seeks a new mandate to fully execute his administration’s policies and strategic initiatives.

Achievements of Tinubu’s administration

Governor Uba Sani earlier thanked the president for major federal government interventions in human capital development, transportation, education, healthcare, agriculture, and security.

He urged voters to support continuity in the 2027 election, arguing that these initiatives have restored hope across Kaduna State and Northern Nigeria.

Highlighting key infrastructure achievements, Governor Sani emphasized the reconstruction of the 123-kilometer Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road, noting that the administration allocated N178 billion to restart the project after four decades of neglect.

He also confirmed the reopening of more than 150 primary healthcare centres and over 300 schools previously forced to close due to regional security challenges.

He also thanked the president for approving the planned Kaduna metropolitan light rail project and advancing the ongoing restoration of the Zaria-Soba-Kambuwa road.

He stated that the government sanctioned $865 million for the rail project and mobilized $300 million to the contractor, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation.
