Nigerian artistes dominated the just concluded 9th All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) held in Lagos on Sunday night, with major wins across categories.
Rema led the evening with three awards: “Artiste of the Year,” “Best Male Artiste in Western Africa,” and “Best African Artiste in RnB and Soul.”

Burna Boy’s “No Sign of Weakness” album won “Album of the Year.” Along with Shallipopi, who won the coveted “Song of the Year” for “Laho,” he also shared the prize for “Best African Collaboration.”
Yemi Alade’s song “You Are” from the animated series “Iyanu” won “Best Soundtrack in a Movie, Series, or Documentary.”

Phyno won “Best African Artiste in African Hip-Hop” in the hip-hop category, while Juma Jux of Tanzania won “Best Male Artiste in Eastern Africa.”

Among the up-and-coming artists, Chella was named “African Fans’ Favourite” and Qing Madi was named “Most Promising Artiste of the Year.”
