The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has officially commenced lectures at Northwest University, Kano, after enrolling as a 200-level law student. The development has attracted widespread attention, as the Emir of Kano’s law student was seen attending classes alongside other undergraduates.

According to reports, the monarch joined fellow students for lectures on Tuesday, dressed in a black flowing outfit and a white turban. His presence on campus further highlighted the unique moment of the Emir of Kano law student returning to the classroom.
His attendance comes a few weeks after Northwest University Kano offered him special admission into its Bachelor of Laws programme in Common and Sharia Law. The university said the decision was influenced by the background and achievements of the Emir of Kano law student.

The institution explained that the admission was granted in recognition of his vast experience in governance, economics, and public service. University officials noted that his wealth of knowledge would add value to academic discussions.

It was also reported that Northwest University, established in 2012, is one of two universities owned by the Kano State Government. The Emir of Kano, a law student, is expected to continue his studies while carrying out his traditional responsibilities.
