Election and voting in the six council regions of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) concluded as planned, and the results have begun to come in.
Residents of the FCT cast their ballots on Saturday to elect the leadership of its six area councils.
The area councils are Abaji, Bwari, Gwagwalada, Kwali, Kuje and the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC).
There are about 637 candidates from 17 political parties running for the 68 seats, which include six chairpersons of area councils and 62 council members. AMAC has twelve wards, while the other five area councils each have ten.
According to reports, many polling units recorded low voter turnout for the election.
Voting however has now finished in many polling units while it continues in a few others to give those on the queue before the 2.30 p.m. to cast their ballots.
