Tensions across the Middle East have deepened following Israeli warning that any leader appointed by the Iranian regime to replace Ali Khamenei will be an unequivocal target for elimination.
The Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz, on Wednesday, revealed this via a forceful warning targeting Iran-aligned leadership figures.
Katz claimed on social media, X, that any leader chosen by what he called the Iranian regime to carry out hostile actions against Israel, the US, and other nations in the region might be eliminated.
In the post, Katz framed the statement as part of the nation’s broader security posture against Tehran’s strategic influence in the Middle East.
Recall that on Saturday, US and Israeli forces launched synchronised air and missile strikes against government and vital locations across Iran, sparking the start of the conflict.
Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other senior Iranian officials were killed during the initial wave of attacks, according to Iranian state media and international sources. This was the most violent escalation between the two nations in decades.

Taking to X, Katz wrote, “Any leader appointed by the Iranian terror regime to continue advancing the plan to destroy Israel, threaten the United States and the free world and the countries of the region, and oppress the Iranian people — will be an unequivocal target for elimination,” Katz wrote.
He added that the warning was not limited by geography or identity.
“It does not matter what his name is or where he hides,” he said.
The minister further revealed that the nation’s leadership had directed the military to increase operational preparedness.
He continued, “The Prime Minister and I have instructed the IDF to prepare and act by all means necessary to carry out this mission as an integral part of the objectives of Operation ‘Roaring Lion.’
Additionally, Katz reaffirmed Israel’s dedication to cooperating with foreign allies in the fight against Iranian influence.
