Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, the recently appointed Supreme Leader of Iran, gave his first formal command on Thursday, directing the Strait of Hormuz to remain closed as a tactical “tool of pressure” against Western nations.
Mojtaba Khamenei, who replaced his father, the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was assassinated in a joint US-Israeli operation, promised to intensify the conflict if foreign military involvement in the region continues in a statement read by Press TV, a state television channel.
The regional neighbours were given a clear ultimatum by the new Supreme Leader, who demanded that any US military installations on their territory be immediately closed.
Mojtaba Khamenei cautioned that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) will continue to have a right to destroy any infrastructure used to support “aggression” against Iran.
“The countries of the region must clarify their stance regarding the aggressors against our dear homeland,” the statement read.

Citing a recent attack on a Minab school, he also pledged to exact “reparations” for the victims of the war. Mojtaba threatened to confiscate or destroy an equivalent amount of the enemy’s assets if recompense was not paid.
Recall that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian presented a three-point diplomatic plan to cease hostilities, while the Supreme Leader concentrated on military retribution and maritime leverage.
Speaking following consultations with the leaders of Russia and Pakistan, Pezeshkian stated that the war—which Iran maintains was ignited by the “Zionist regime and the U.S.”—could only end if the following conditions are met
