Donald Trump, the president of the United States, criticised Britain’s response to the Iran War, adding that he is “not happy” and “very surprised.” He also levelled new criticism at Keir Starmer.

Trump stated that the UK “should be involved enthusiastically” in assisting American forces in reopening the Strait of Hormuz in his most recent strike.

This comes while Tehran is obstructing the crucial sea route out of the Persian Gulf, halting the flow of gas and oil from the Middle East and driving up energy costs worldwide.

Trump said that countries would encounter “very few shots” from Iran if they became involved in defending shipping in the Strait.

His comments comes just hours after the previous commander of the United Kingdom’s armed forces threatened to sink Royal Navy ships.

Additionally, the US President said that during his conversation with Sir Keir yesterday, he chastised the Prime Minister for consulting aides before deciding whether to dispatch warships to the area.

Following Sir Keir’s insistence that the UK will not be dragged into a “wider war” in the Middle East and his rejection of the US President’s request that other nations send warships to the area, Trump was displeased.

Mr Trump said: ‘I was very surprised with the UK, because UK two weeks ago, I said, why don’t you send some ships over?

‘And he [Starmer] really didn’t want to do it. I said, “you don’t want to do it?”

‘We’ve been with you. You’re our oldest ally, and we spend a lot of money on, you know, NATO and all of these things to protect you.

‘We’re protecting them. We’re working with them on Ukraine. Ukraine is thousands of miles away, separated by a vast ocean…

‘We don’t need to work with them in Ukraine, and then they tell us that we have a mine ship around, and they don’t want to do it.’

He added: ‘I think it’s terrible. I was very surprised.’

‘I said “you don’t need to meet with your team, you’re the Prime Minister, you can make your own, why do you have to meet with your team to find out whether or not you’re going to send some minesweepers to help us or to send some boats”, he insisted.

The US President added that oil prices would fall ‘very, very rapidly’.
