Earlier reports indicated that a video circulating online revealed disturbing scenes from Ozoro, where women were allegedly assaulted and harassed during a local festival.

The footage, which sparked widespread condemnation, appeared to show women trying to escape from groups of men, with some calling out for help.

In reaction to the outrage, the Delta State Police Command confirmed the arrest of the alleged organiser, Chief Omorede Sunday, along with four other suspects.

The Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, strongly condemned the incident, describing it as “acts of sexual violence that are criminal, inhumane, and a grave violation of fundamental human rights.”

Reacting to the viral incident, Mr Jollof took to his Instagram page on Friday, saying:

“I feel so ashamed as a Deltan in 2026 if such attitude to disrespect women still exists. This is even women’s month—we celebrate International Women’s Day and Mother’s Day, yet this is happening. That is barbaric,” he said.

He further called on the Delta State government to urgently address the situation and ensure justice is served.

“I am calling on the Delta State government to speak up and hold those responsible accountable.

“Children go to school in Ozoro, how can parents feel safe sending their daughters there if this is what is happening under the guise of a festival?” Mr Jollof added.
