A massive crowd gathered on Monday to witness the defection of former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

It had earlier been reported that Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), officially received his ADC membership card in Kano on Monday.
The event drew several prominent ADC leaders, including National Chairman David Mark; former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal; former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun; as well as former governors Peter Obi (Anambra) and Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers).

The defection comes a day after Kwankwaso announced his resignation from the NNPP.
He cited the need for a strategic political realignment amid the evolving dynamics of Nigeria’s political landscape.
