The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has ordered the deployment of 14 units from 16 Police Mobile Force (PMF) squadrons, along with 250 personnel from specialized tactical teams, to reinforce the Benue State Police Command ahead of the 2026 Easter celebrations.

According to a statement from the Benue State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Udeme Edet, the strategic deployment aims to bolster ongoing security operations and ensure the protection of lives and property throughout the state during the festive period.
The deployed officers have been integrated with the state command’s tactical teams and other security agencies, focusing on securing hinterlands, vulnerable communities, and key public spaces.

DSP Edet added that the Commissioner of Police for Benue State, Ifeanyi Emenari, while commending the IGP for the timely reinforcements, reassured residents of the command’s readiness to maintain law and order before, during, and after the Easter festivities. He urged citizens to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and cooperative by providing timely and useful information to security agencies.
