Hope Uzodimma, the governor of Imo State, has described the results of the South East’s general elections in 2023 a “wrong national political calculation.”
He maintained that it was a “political accident” that won’t happen again in 2027.
Speaking during the meeting, Governor Uzodimma said: “We made a wrong national political calculation in the South East in 2023. What happened in the South East in 2023 is a political accident that will not repeat itself.”
He stressed the importance of unity among party members, urging leaders and stakeholders to put aside their differences in the interest of the region.

He further He emphasised the value of party unity and urged stakeholders and leaders to set aside their disagreements for the benefit of the area.
The governor also emphasised that in order for the South East to stay important in national politics, it must identify politically with the central ruling party.
He claimed that increased political involvement inside the APC will allow the region to get more from the federal government.

Meanwhile, Uzodimma also underscored the need for the South East to align politically with the APC to remain relevant in national politics.
He said “We must work for Bola Tinubu to be indebted to us. We have to invest to be able to earn dividends. We must get more votes for the President in the South East”.
