FCT, Nyesom Wike, has appointed a new aide, in the person of Onsachi Idris as his Senior Special Assistant on Procurement.
Nyesom Wike’s most recent appointment was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.
The statement further described Idris as a “seasoned public servant with over 30 years of experience in administration, finance, and public sector procurement management.”
Additionally, it stated that “over the years, Idris has gained extensive experience across key administrative and procurement functions, contributing to institutional efficiency and service delivery.”
The statement also emphasized that the appointment is to take immediate effect.
BACKSTORY
Nyesom Wike has been embroiled in a series of backlash and criticism in recent times. The minister has been at the centre of the PDP leadership crisis with many political figures accusing him of working for the ruling APC.
Additionally, the minister also made rounds over his fallout with River State governor, Fubara . A feud that left the entire state in political crisis which eventually led to Fubara’s suspension along with all members of his cabinet for 6 months.
The FCT minister continues to be a subject of criticism despite his visibile contributions and significant infrastructural development in the FCT.
The recent appointment signals the minister’s continued efforts at ensuring that his administration serves to full capacity.
