Dr. George Agbakahi, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has blamed politically sponsored terrorism for Nigeria’s ongoing security crisis.

He also claims that Nigeria’s insecurity predates the current government, pointing out that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made major efforts to address the issue.
Although the current administration has made significant efforts in bolstering the military, he insisted that insecurity has become firmly rooted in the nation.
Agbakahi also referenced persistent security problems in some areas of the Northeast, especially in Borno State and Yobe State, characterising them as long-standing problems rather than recent advancements.
He further applauded the government’s attempts to work with foreign partners to address insecurity while also speculating that certain acts of violence might have political motivations.
On the wider national response, the APC leader further emphasised that politicians must not politicise security and urged Nigerians across political, ethnic, and religious lines to unite to combat the menace.
He said, “Insecurity is not about APC, not about PDP or any other party. We urge all Nigerians, irrespective of ethnic, political and religious affiliations, to come together and work collectively.”
Agbakahi also went on to defend the Federal Government’s position on holding talks with terrorists, characterising it as a calculated move to deter future assaults.
