Murtala Garo as deputy governor

The Kano State House of Assembly has confirmed Murtala Garo as the new deputy governor of the state following his successful screening.

The confirmation came after the ad hoc committee’s report was presented and approved during Monday’s session, which was chaired by Speaker Jibril Falgore.

Muhammad Bello, the committee’s chairman and deputy speaker, presented the report and stated that Garo’s nomination came after Aminu Gwarzo, the former deputy governor, resigned.

He also clarified that the Assembly conducted the screening in line with Section 191(3)(c) of the 1999 Constitution, which empowers it to confirm a nominee in the event of a vacancy.

The committee claims that the nominee went through a thorough screening procedure, which included a lengthy Q&A session addressing his professional experience, educational background, comprehension of governance, and vision for the state.

His qualifications were also confirmed.

According to Daily Trust, the committee observed that Garo showed a thorough comprehension of the duties of the position and offered a feasible plan to assist Governor Abba Yusuf’s government in carrying out its purpose.

The House approved the committee’s recommendation for his confirmation in light of its findings.
