The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State has endorsed Dr. Jamilu Shaiyaku Gwamna as its consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 general election, effectively sidelining former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, from the race.

The decision was made during an expanded stakeholders’ meeting chaired by the state party leader and Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.

According to a statement from the Director-General of Press Affairs at Government House, Gombe, Ismaila Uba Misilli, the meeting brought together governorship aspirants, National Assembly and State Assembly contenders, members of the State Working Committee, party elders, and other key stakeholders.

APC explained that the consensus adoption followed wide consultations led by the governor, involving both party leaders and grassroots stakeholders. It added that the move was aimed at strengthening internal unity, reducing tensions, and presenting a coordinated front ahead of the elections.

Party sources further revealed that the consensus arrangement also extended to other elective offices in the state, with candidates selected for the three senatorial districts, six House of Representatives seats, and all 24 State House of Assembly constituencies.

For the Senate, the APC endorsed Mohammed Ahmadu Deba for Gombe Central, Jerry Damara for Gombe South, and Governor Inuwa Yahaya for Gombe North.

In the House of Representatives race, the adopted candidates include Usman Bello Kumo (Akko), Inuwa Garba (Yamaltu/Deba), Ali Isa JC (Balanga/Billiri), Fatima Binta Bello (Kaltungo/Shongom), Saddam Bello (Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye), and Jamilu Shabewa (Dukku/Nafada).
