Supporters of former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, under the Pantamiyya Movement, have expressed strong opposition to the emergence of Jamilu Gwamna as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Gombe State.
In a statement issued by the movement’s coordinator, Suleiman Mohammed, the group described the development as unfair and unjust.
Mohammed argued that a valid consensus process cannot exist without the participation of all aspirants who have purchased or completed their expression of interest and nomination forms.
He further stated that the decision contradicts legal provisions, APC directives, and what he claimed were instructions from President Bola Tinubu.
He called on members of the movement to remain calm and law-abiding, while stressing that what he described as disregard for due process and legal provisions should not be overlooked.

According to him, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere,” citing provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 regarding candidate selection.
He explained that the law recognizes only two valid methods of nomination within political parties: consensus and direct primaries. He noted that under a proper consensus arrangement, all cleared aspirants must voluntarily and unanimously agree to step down. If any aspirant declines, the party is required to conduct direct primaries.
He added that direct primaries allow all registered party members to vote for their preferred candidates, emphasizing that “coronation-style” selection is not provided for in the law.
