A Nigerian doctor based in Canada, Arinze Onwumelu, has advised singer Portable to undergo a medical brain examination following his celebrity boxing match with skit maker Carter Efe.
The bout, held over the weekend in Lagos, ended in defeat for the “Zazuu” crooner, attracting widespread reactions from fans and social media users after the outcome went viral.
In a video and social media post shared on Monday, Dr. Onwumelu—also known as Dr Zo—recommended that Portable undergo a brain scan, specifically an MRI, to rule out possible internal head injuries.

He expressed concern that several punches landed on sensitive areas of the singer’s head, warning that there could be a risk of a serious condition such as a subdural haematoma.
According to him, the fight appeared to go beyond a harmless exhibition match, stressing that participants were not meant to sustain such level of impact.
He further questioned whether proper guidelines were followed, adding that the intensity of the punches could have long-term effects if not medically checked.
The doctor urged anyone close to Portable to ensure he undergoes immediate medical evaluation, including a brain scan, to prevent potential complications.
He also advised organisers of celebrity boxing events to enforce the use of protective headgear to minimize the risk of head injuries.
Before the match, Portable had expressed confidence in his ability to defeat Carter Efe, having previously recorded wins in earlier celebrity boxing appearances.
