Ahead of the 2027 general elections, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi have obtained the African Democratic Congress (ADC) nomination and expression of interest forms.

Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, another ADC presidential candidate, has also picked the form, promising to put security, job growth, and the growing cost of living that affects millions of Nigerians first.

Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, revealed on Friday that the three candidates had already received the paperwork.

Hayatu-Deen further stated that the 2027 election must prioritise enhancing national security and re-establishing economic stability after receiving the form from the party’s National Organising Secretary, Chinedu Idigo, on Friday.

Additionally, he said in a statement that Nigerians were facing poverty and insecurity.

Meanwhile, According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), gubernatorial and state House of Assembly elections will hold on February 6, 2027, while presidential and National Assembly elections are scheduled for January 16, 2027.INEC also said party primaries and the resolution of related issues will take place between April 23 and May 30, 2026.

This comes barely one week after Peter Obi, and former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, joined the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).

Earlier reports indicate that the duo, on May 3, announced their departure from the African Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Meanwhile, A chieftain of ADC, Chille Igbawua, has dismissed claims that the party is being positioned as a political platform for former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar.

Igbawua made this known on May 4, during a live appearance on Channels Television’s, while reacting to the recent political realignments involving Obi and Kwankwaso.
