Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has met with aspirants seeking the All Progressives Congress (APC) tickets for various elective positions in the state ahead of the party primaries.
During the meeting held at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Owerri, and attended by party stakeholders and aspirants, the governor urged contestants to embrace loyalty, discipline, and sacrifice throughout the primary process scheduled to begin on May 15, 2026.
Uzodinma described politics as a game of courage rather than luck, noting that while some aspirants would emerge victorious, others would inevitably lose.

Uzodinma cautioned against desperation, advising aspirants to remain committed to the party before, during, and after the primaries. The governor also warned participants to carefully assess the risks involved in political contests and avoid spending money meant for important family needs, such as children’s school fees, on nomination forms.
To ensure transparency and fairness, Uzodinma disclosed that the APC would adopt the Option A4 voting system in areas where consensus arrangements fail, adding that the system would help prevent allegations of favoritism.
He further encouraged aspirants and stakeholders to respect existing equity and zoning arrangements within their communities and assured them that both the APC Primary Election Committee and Appeal Committee had been established to address any grievances arising from the process.
The governor acknowledged the high number of aspirants contesting for different offices and stressed the importance of conducting the primaries in a peaceful and inclusive manner that would benefit all participants.
Speaking at the event, the APC State Chairman, Austin Onyedebelu, reaffirmed the party’s commitment to unity, reconciliation, and electoral victory ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He stated that the State Executive Committee had already taken measures to strengthen the party for greater efficiency, progress, and internal harmony.
Onyedebelu also assured members that mechanisms had been put in place to resolve disputes and ensure a peaceful, rancor-free primary election process.
