Dangote Refinery has sued the Nigerian government over new fuel import permits issued to marketers and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited.
According to Reuters, the 650,000-barrel-per-day refinery asked the Federal High Court in Lagos on Friday to nullify the import permits granted or renewed by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority.
Recall that despite Dangote Refinery’s about 79% ability to meet domestic fuel supply demand, stakeholders have protested the issuance of new gasoline import licenses to six petroleum marketers.
Recall that in 2025, the Federal Government intervened to halt Dangote Refinery’s previous litigation against importers.
According to sources, the Refinery dispenses gasoline for N1,200 per litre, while importers sell it for between N1,285 and N1,295 per litre.
