Ned Nwoko, who represents Delta North Senatorial District, has alleged that the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries in the area was manipulated by the state government.

He insisted that he was the legitimate winner of the primary election, contrary to the declared result.

Recalls that former Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, was announced as the winner of the APC primary for the senatorial ticket.

However, speaking during an interview on Arise News, Ned Nwoko rejected the outcome, insisting that he had sufficient evidence to prove his victory.

He claimed that the primaries were conducted across 98 wards and that he has video recordings from each ward showing he won the contest, which he intends to present to the party for review.

According to him, midway through the exercise, participants were informed that results would no longer be announced at ward level.

He further explained that they were told the final declaration would be made at the national level, with expectations that due process would be followed.

Ned Nwoko, however, alleged that the final result presented was based on figures from a single ward allegedly linked to the former governor, which was then used to declare the winner.

He also accused the Delta State governor of colluding with Senator Okowa to influence the outcome of the primaries.

Backstory…

The dispute stems from the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary for Delta North ahead of the 2027 elections.

Senator Ned Nwoko and former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa both reportedly contested for the APC ticket in the region.

While the party announced Okowa as the winner of the primary, Ned Nwoko has strongly rejected the outcome, alleging that the process was manipulated. He claims he actually won across most of the wards and says he has video evidence to support his position.

The controversy has sparked internal tension within the APC in Delta State, with Nwoko accusing political actors in the state of influencing the process in favour of Okowa. The matter reflects ongoing power struggles within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
